Nowata, Oklahoma: Savoy Hotel

Quirk remembers this hotel in northeastern Oklahoma as having been closed over 20 years ago. The front section been used most recently as a real estate office. There is evidence that someone may be living in the hotel; there are two mailboxes that refer to "Apartment 212" or something of the sort.

The sign on the side of the hotel advertises "Radium Water Baths" to potential guests. I wonder if the building is actually habitable...

What I found interesting about the Nowata County website is their mention of the Savoy Hotel, that it used to be famous for its "mineral water" baths. I'm thinking big-time spin applied here by the locals.

Evidently, you can still do this sort of thing in Japan, no spin required...

We know of a restaurant that was located in the basement down at the bottom of that side stairwell. This was over 20 years ago. They had great steak dinners. At that time the building was being ran by a group from Bartlesville and rooms were being rented by the week and or month at the time. The place however was still very nostalgic and all the floors had occupants. I have'nt been in the area in over 20 years and the pics bring back good memories.
